Information kiosks  

The main purpose of information kiosk is to automize to the maximum input and receiving of various information, and to provide citizens with services, based on modern information technologies.

Information stalls may contribute to automatization and speeding-up of registration of documents, identifying person, and to produce other registration functions on the customer's requirements.

Information kiosks are assigned to be used in crowded places, when various events take place, etc.

Some examples of practical application of the kiosks:

  • Electronic avowal of the goods and currency, carried by passengers (customs kiosks);
  • Passport registration of the foreign citizens, staying on the territory of RK in short period of time (migratory kiosks);
  • Check of control lists during inspection of the citizens (search of criminals, lost documents, owners of false documents, etc.);
  • Voting – collection and fixation of citizens' will on different points (voting kiosks).

Information kiosks fulfill the following main tasks:

  1. Registration procedures can be simplified with the help of the following ways:
    • To make fully automatic processes of filling in registration documents by natural and legal persons;
    • To present voice and text tips, patterns of filled in documents;
    • To scan passports, identity cards and other documents;
    • To recognize typescript lines of the documents, proving person's identity;
    • To reveal false passports and identity cards;
    • To store photographs from documents and “live” video image of faces of registered persons, in the database of the kiosks;
    • To form and store electronic registration documents in the database of information kiosks;
    • To give natural and legal persons paper registration;
  2. Registration services in the places, where events are held, arrival or regular/temporary staying of citizens, will increase quality and comfort for natural and legal persons;
  3. Automatization of registration procedures to the maximum;
  4. Review of the registration data, receiving of generalized statistics and analytic information;
  5. Collected and transferred data are stored in form of electronic copies of registration documents, images of passports and identity cards, video images of registered natural persons.

Information kiosks, located in places, which are accessible and comfortable for the citizens, provide registration services. Fast and convenient registration attracts citizens to fulfill this operation independently with a help of information kiosk. Employees, leading procedure of registration, can assist person, who would not like to register himself (middle age, fear of computers, inability to operate keyboard, etc.).

The process of registration includes the following operations:

  1. A person should touch the screen of sensor monitor to start filling in registration documents;
  2. The citizen places the passport on the reader. If the document is recognized and its authenticity and citizenship are determined, monitor will automatically show form of registration document, and also passport data of the citizen, located in appropriate fields of the documents, if necessary. Otherwise, the citizen will be proposed to register typically in the registration department;
  3. After scanning/input of passport data, the system will switch to filling in documents in accordance to prescribed norms and current legislation. Data, inputting by the citizens, should be sufficient to form registration documents, which they receive at the moment of registration. At the same time, information of subsidiary, where citizen is registered, department, address, etc. can be included into registration documents at will of the customer;
  4. Inputting data are logically controlled, and the citizen receives voice and text tips, which assist him to fill in document correctly. The citizen can look through the patterns of filled in documents or their separate fields;
  5. When operation is finished, filled in registration documents, scanned passport image, “live” video image of the citizen, implementing registration are send in electronic form to the database, and the citizen receives (printed) registration document with unique registration number, number of the kiosk and name of subsidiary, possessing database;
  6. Typical stamp and official's signature can be changed by bar-code, printed with a help of special thermoprinter on the form of the document. Bar-code is formed, using particular system algorithm. There is wide range of the methods, used for bar-codes' identity verification.

Information kiosk is independent construction. All its components are housed in firm enclosure, protected against breakings and damage. Solid materials (stainless steel, anodized metals, shockproof glass, etc.) are used for manufacture of the main parts, providing durability.

There are three variants of information kiosks: floor, desktop, and wall models.

The standard kiosk includes: sensor monitor, computer, passport reader, video camera, sound speaker, printer and UPS. Different peripheral equipment can be added to the kiosks.
